A 2008 first-round pick of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Arizona State star was directly or indirectly involved in the trades of Matt Holliday, Roy Halladay and Roy Oswalt before landing in Houston. He was rated the 27th top prospect by Baseball America before the season began. In his two months as a rookie in Houston, he batted .222 with two homers. After winning the first base job out of spring training in 2011, Wallace started fast but struggled and was eventually sent down to AAA.
