Drafted by Kansas City in 2001, the Puerto Rican infielder has played briefly with the Royals and Red Sox before the Astros traded for him midway through the 2010 campaign. He took advantage of an injury to Tommy Manzella to play steadily at shortstop, batting .280 in his rookie season. He spent much of 2011 as a utility infielder.
