The lefthanded Dominican has improved each year from 2005-2010, compiling a 62-64 record over his first six seasons. In 2009, he led the Astros in wins, strikeouts and innings pitched. Despite a slight dropoff in 2010, he remains a mainstay of the Houston rotation. After signing a three-year contract in 2011, he soon became attached to trade rumors during the rebuilding phase. Rodriguez also appeared in three postseason games as a rookie in 2005 and has an 0-1 record with a 3.86 ERA in 4-2/3rds innings pitched.

This Date in Astros History Jan 18, 1979 - Wandy Rodriguez is born in Santiago, D.R. The lefthander has a 73-75 record in seven seasons (2005-2011) as an Astro. Apr 5, 2006 - Craig Biggio adds to his illustrious credentials in a 6-5 triumph over the Marlins. His first-inning double gives him 606 in his career to become tenth all-time in that category. Later, he scores his 1700th run, 24th all-time in that department. He is two hits shy of the 2800 plateau. Lance Berkman and Preston Wilson supply the muscle with two-run homers to support Wandy Rodriguez. Sep 20, 2007 - J.R. Towles, a catcher playing in his sixth major league game, claims the franchise record with eight RBIs in an 18-1 demolition of the Cardinals, setting the largest winning margin in club history. Towles goes 4-for-4 with two doubles, his first big league homer, a walk and a hit-by-pitch. Wandy Rodriguez tosses eight strong innings for his ninth win.
