Ransom was a utility infielder who played four season with the Giants when he re-surfaced at the end of the 2007 season. Perhaps his greatest notoriety came when he was the reserve third baseman with the Yankees behind Alex Rodriguez. When Rodriguez missed part of the 2009 season due to injury, Ransom was thrust into the spotlight in the country's media mecca.
