The Dominican righthander can hit the gun in the high 90s and break off sharp curves but has yet to put it all together. He missed the 2008 season due to injury and struggled at times in 2009 but he also showed flashes of the dominating pitcher he can become. This continued in 2010 when he struggled to put together the production his talent implies.

Running out of options and unable to fulfill his potential, the Astros traded him to Colorado after the 2010 season. He was released by the Rockies in 2011 and was claimed by the Royals. As an Astro, Felipe posted a 6-21 record with a 5.83 ERA.
