A former first-round draft pick from Dallas that attended Baylor University, Jennings was acquired from Colorado for three players and billed as the team's number two starter. Instead, his season was largely a disaster and he was allowed to leave via free agency after the next winter.

Dec 12, 2006 - After the departure of lefthander Andy Pettitte and the failure to land Jon Garland in trade, Houston gets their replacement by acquiring righthander Jason Jennings from the Rockies along with rookie righthander Miguel Asencio in exchange for outfielder Willy Taveras and pitchers Taylor Buchholz and Jason Hirsh. In Colorado for six seasons, Jennings had amassed a 58-56 record and was the 2002 N.L. Rookie of the Year.

Jul 24, 2007 - On the day he announces his retirement effective at the end of the season, Craig Biggio blasts a grand slam homer off Rudy Seanez that breaks up a 3-3 tie and defeats the Dodgers, 7-4. It's the 3016th hit of his career. Jason Jennings wins for just the second time all season, assisted by four relievers.
