The righthander was part of big trades coming and going from Houston. After the 2003 season, he came in a four-player deal that sent closer Billy Wagner to Philadelphia. After the 2006 season, he was dealt to the Colorado Rockies in a five-player swap that sent Jason Jennings to Houston. In between, he spent two seasons in the Astros' minor league season and spent 2006 with the Astros, appearing in 22 games, 19 of them as a starter. He posted a 6-10 record, with one shutout and had a 5.89 ERA. He has since gone 12-11 in two seasons with the Rockies but has also been beset by arm injuries.

This Date in Astros History Nov 03, 2003 - In an anticipated salary move, Houston trades closer Billy Wagner to the Philadelphia Phillies for righthanded pitchers Brandon Duckworth, Taylor Buchholz and Ezequiel Astacio. Wagner had opened the door to be traded after criticizing the ownership for not making the moves he thought would bring a pennant to Houston. Apr 22, 2006 - Taylor Buchholz gets his first big league win, blanking the Pirates, 3-0. Buchholz has a one-hitter with one out to go before an error and a single causes Manager Phil Garner to bring Brad Lidge in to get the final out. Craig Biggio scores all three runs using a single, a double and a homer. The Astros' all-time franchise record climbs above .500 for the first time since early 1962. Dec 12, 2006 - After the departure of lefthander Andy Pettitte and the failure to land Jon Garland in trade, Houston gets their replacement by acquiring righthander Jason Jennings from the Rockies along with rookie righthander Miguel Asencio in exchange for outfielder Willy Taveras and pitchers Taylor Buchholz and Jason Hirsh. In Colorado for six seasons, Jennings had amassed a 58-56 record and was the 2002 N.L. Rookie of the Year. Photos ![]() |
