The Houston native was drafted by the Astros but chose, instead, to play at the University of Houston. When he was later drafted by the Phillies, the speedster hit .268 in parts of two seasons in Philadelphia in a backup capacity. He became the main player acquired by Houston when they traded Brad Lidge to the Phillies after the 2007 season. After a bad 2008 season, Bourn led the National League in steals in both 2009 and 2010, while winning a Gold Glove and making the 2010 NL All-Star team. Bourn was having his best season yet when he was dealt to the Atlanta Braves at the trade deadline for outfielder Jordan Schafer and three minor league pitchers. He won his third stolen base title in 2011.
