Another rookie, Gerald Young, singles off Mike Jackson with the bases loaded to send the fans home happy. Danny Darwin goes the distance on a four-hitter.
Dec 14 2000 - Reliever Mike Jackson is inked to a free agent contract. The native Houstonian fashions a 5-3 record with four saves in his one season as an Astro.
Oct 09 2001 - A three-run homer by Chipper Jones is the difference as Houston falls again to Atlanta, 7-4, in Game One of the N.L.D.S. at Enron Field. Wade Miller held a slim lead going into the eighth but Mike Jackson and Billy Wagner fail to hold the fort. Brad Ausmus hit a two-run homer to help the Astros build the lead. Vinny Castilla adds a solo shot in the ninth.
