Horace Guy Womack came up with the New York Yankees just as their dynasty was ending. The South Carolinian had three effective years in the Bronx bullpen. he was dealt to Houston late in 1968 for Dick "Suitcase" Simpson. He had a 2-1 record with a 3.51 ERA in 30 games with the Astros in 1969 before he was traded in August to Seattle for another ex-Yankee, Jim Bouton. He duplicated his 2-1 record with the Pilots but was sent packing again that winter, first back to Houston and then to Cincinnati where he threw his last in the majors.
In five seasons, he posted a respectable 19-18 record with a 2.95 ERA and 24 saves but the ride ended quickly despite the addition of four teams to the majors in 1969.
