Astros in the Sky
Born: Feb 16, 1944
Nicknamed "Sparky", the nephew of Hall-of-Famer Arky Vaughan was signed by the expansion Colt .45s in 1962 and was called up to the majors the next September at age 19. He started in the All-Rookie game and played in nine games overall with the Colts. He hit .167 in 30 at bats.
After some frustration in the minors, he retired from baseball and went into business in the Houston area, which he did for the rest of his life. Vaughan passed away on December 18, 2004 in Houston at age 60.
