A four-time All-Star with the Orioles in the 1950s, Houston was the final stop on a 13-year career in the majors. He was purchased by the Astros in 1965. Triandos (pron: tree-AND-ose) appeared in 24 games that season and hit .181 with two homers.

Originally signed by the Yankees, he was dealt to Baltimore as part of a mammoth 16-player deal after the 1954 season. Installed as the starter with the Orioles, the catcher played there for eight years then caught with the the Tigers and Phillies before winding up in Houston.

For his full career, Triandos compiled a .244 average with 167 homers. He passed away on March 28, 2013 in San Jose, CA of congestive heart failure at age 82.
