Rarely the regular catcher, this native of Monterrey, Mexico played 13 seasons with the Mets, Reds, Braves, Giants, Dodgers and Astros before return engagements with the Mets and Reds. For his career, Trevino batted .249 with 23 homers. In his three seasons with the Astros (1988-1990), he hit .252 with five homers while mentoring a young Craig Biggio behind the plate.

After his playing days ended, Trevino switched to Spanish-language broadcasting with the Astros and other teams.
