Toronto native Ron Taylor was signed by the Indians and debuted with them in 1962. Swapped to St. Louis, he was acquired by the Astros midway in the 1965 season along with pitcher Mike Cuellar for pitchers Chuck Taylor and Hal Woodeshick. Ron pitched for Houston through the 1966 season and compiled a 3-8 record with a 6.03 ERA and four saves in 68 games.
Purchased by the Mets, Taylor pitched for five seasons in Gotham and helped New York win the World Series in 1969. He had also appeared in the 1964 season with the Cardinals. He was bought and released by the Expos before spending one final big league season with San Diego in 1972. Over 11 seasons, his record was 45-43 with 72 saves and a 3.93 ERA.
