A seventh-round pick in 1979, the Texas A&M product from Galveston had three brief trials with the parent club (1982-1985) and produced a 1-2 record with a 3.38 ERA in 14 games. He later pitched for the Pirates and Blue Jays with similar short stints. For his six seasons, Ross compiled a 2-2 record with a 3.83 ERA which doesn't look all that bad but he was never able to cement a permanent place on a big league roster.
