The lefthanded Dominican was the last holdover of the 2005 National League champions. In 2009, he led the Astros in wins, strikeouts and innings pitched. He became a steady veteran over his final five seasons until he was traded in 2012 to Pittsburgh for three minor leaguers during a rebuilding phase.

As an Astro, Wandy posted an 80-84 record over eight seasons with a 4.04 ERA while ranking tenth on the franchise's all-time wins list (80), ninth in strikeouts (1093) and sixth in strikeouts per nine innings (7.5) at the time of his trade.

Rodríguez also appeared in three postseason games as a rookie in 2005 and has an 0-1 record with a 3.86 ERA in 4-2/3rds innings pitched.
