A native of Maine, Roberge was drafted in the 17th round by the Astros in 1976 and came up to the parent club in 1979. His first call-up went very well. He was 3-0 with four saves and a nifty 1.69 ERA while helping the Astros in an historic pennant race. The next year, he got into 14 games and earned a 2-0 record but his ERA ballooned to 5.92.

After a year back in the minors, he came back to Houston in 1982 and claimed a 1-2 mark with three saves but was released after the following season.

The White Sox signed him and he posted a 3-3 mark then was dealt to the Expos where he spent his last two big league seasons. As an Astro, his career record was 6-2 with seven saves and a 3.73 ERA. Overall, he posted a 12-12 mark with 10 saves and an ERA of 3.98.
