Houston was the final stop on a 16-season journey for the Florida righthander. While an Astro in 1989, Rhoden posted a 2-6 record with a 4.28 ERA. For his career, though, he compiled a 151-125 record with the Dodgers, Pirates, Yankees and Astros, including two All-Star games and two post-season appearances.

An exceptionally good hitter for a pitcher, Rhoden retired with a .238 average and nine homers over his big league career.
