A popular reserve infielder, the Virginian spent five seasons with the Astros in the mid-80s. He compiled a .250 average with nine homers and 55 RBIs over that time. Other than two games as a defensive substitution for the Red Sox, that was the extent of his time in the big leagues but Pankovits has spent his time since then as a coach and manager in the minor leagues.
