The Hoboken, NJ native spent 13 seasons as a reserve outfielder and pinch-hitter, mostly with the Angels but had his final four seasons with the Astros. Palmeiro hit .258 with Houston, including six homers in back-up duty. He was also 5-for-22 (.227) in post-season play during the 2004 and 2005 playoff runs.

For his full career, Palmeiro hit .274 with 12 homers and 37 steals.
