Selected by the Blue Jays in the first round of the 2011 draft, Musgrove went straight from high school to the minor leagues. Houston acquired the big right-hander one year later and he quickly became one of the top-rated pitching prospects in the organization.
Musgrove got a midseason call-up to the big leagues in 2016 and quickly made a big impression. Normally a starter, Musgrove made his debut as a reliever when he was called upon to replace the injured Lance McCullers with two outs in the fifth inning and a 2-0 deficit against Toronto. Musgrove was dominant against the team that drafted him, striking out eight and allowing only one hit over the final 4-1/3 innings.
