The Reading, PA native was a 20th-round draft choice of the Astros in 1996 and quickly rose through the ranks, making his debut in Houston in 1999 as an injury call-up. A strong-armed righthander, Miller averaged 15 wins at his peak but was felled by shoulder injuries that quickly curtailed his career. In his six seasons with the Astros, Miller had a 58-39 record with a 3.87 ERA. Allowed to leave in free agency after the 2004 season, Miller attempted comebacks with the Red Sox and Cubs but could not repeat his past success. For his career, Miller was 62-46 with a 4.10 ERA in 147 starts with five complete games. |
