Born: Mar 30, 1991
A native of Tampa, FL, Jacob Shawn Marisnick was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the third round of the 2009 amateur draft.
A swift, tall (6'4") centerfielder regarded more for his superb defensive skills than for his prowess at the plate, he rose through Toronto's system, then was traded to Miami in 2013. Promoted to the major-league club directly from AA, Jake was given a 40-game tryout in 2013 and 14 more in 2014 before being shipped to Houston in the Jarred Cosart trade at the non-waiver deadline.
Marisnick quickly earned a place as the starting centerfielder for the Astros during the last half of 2014 and the first half of 2015, after which the arrival of Carlos Gomez at the trade deadline moved him to left field or the bench, depending on the opposing pitcher.
In addition to his blinding speed in the outfield and on the basepaths, Jake's good looks has also made him a favorite with the female fans.
