A native of Tampa, FL, Jacob Shawn Marisnick was selected by Toronto in the third round of the 2009 amateur draft.

A swift, tall (6'4") centerfielder regarded more for his superb defensive skills than for his prowess at the plate, Jake was traded to Miami in 2013. Promoted to the major leagues directly from AA, Marisnick was given a 40-game tryout in 2013 and 14 more in 2014 before being shipped to Houston in the Jarred Cosart trade at the non-waiver deadline.

Useful as a pinch-runner, defensive replacement and starter against lefthanders, Marisnick hit .232 with 53 homers, 65 steals and a .682 OPS over six seasons before he was traded to the Mets after the 2019 season.

In the postseason, the flashy outfielder batted .333 with a .745 OPS in 23 games.
