A lefthander from Denver, Madden spent all four of his major league seasons with the Astros after coming over from Milwaukee as part of the deal that sent Don Sutton to the Brewers. His busiest season was his rookie campaign in 1983 when he went 9-5 in 28 games (13 starts) with a nifty 3.14 ERA. But Madden had trouble finding a permanent job on the staff and finished up in 1986 with a career mark of 12-10 and a 3.94 ERA.
