A longtime nemesis of the Astros as a Los Angeles Dodgers, the speedy second baseman joined Houston during the 1986 pennant race and helped them win the N.L. West title for just the second time. He returned for the Astros in 1987 and appeared in 47 games at the age of 42 to close out his 16-year career.
The Rhode Island native hit .234 with two homers in his two partial seasons with the Astros. Overall, he batted .263 with 155 homers and 557 stolen bases while being named to four All-Star teams.
