After five seasons with the Braves, LaCorte came to the Astros in a 1979 trade for pitcher Bo McLaughlin. For the next five years, LaCorte won 18 and lost 18 for the Astros with 26 saves and a 4.03 ERA.

He spent a final season in California in 1984. For his career, LaCorte had a 23-44 record and a 5.01 ERA.
