The Pennsylvanian tossed in the American League for eight seasons with the Red Sox, Senators and White Sox before winding up his career with the Colt .45s. In 53 games for Houston, Kemmerer posted a 5-3 record with four saves and a 4.64 ERA during two seasons.

For his full nine-year career, Kemmerer recorded a 43-59 record with eight saves and a 4.46 ERA.

After his retirement, he was named the pitching coach for the Colts' AAA affiliate in Oklahoma City where he continued to make pitching appearances when the club needed an extra arm. Kemmerer became an ordained minister who pastored churches around Indiana and also worked as a teacher and baseball coach at several area schools.

He also published a book, Ted Williams: "Hey kid, just get it over the plate!" about his early years with the Red Sox.

Kemmerer passed away on December 8, 2014 in Indianapolis, IN at age 84.
