A third-round pick of the Astros in 1992, the Dallas native became known as a pitcher with big league talent but not particularly lucky. Despite playing on two division champions during his four seasons in Houston, Holt had a losing record each year. He compiled a 21-42 record with a 4.51 ERA. Holt tossed a one-hitter at the Brewers in 2000 and pitched 7-2/3rd shutout innings at the Pirates the day Houston was no-hit in ten innings by Francisco Cordova and Ricardo Rincon in 1997. He was dealt to Detroit after the 2000 season in a trade that brought Brad Ausmus back to Houston. In his final major league season, Holt posted a 7-9 mark with the Tigers in 2001. |
