Known as a quality reliever with the Detroit Tigers for nine seasons, the Missouri native was a trade deadline pickup for the Astros in 1995, posting a 0-1 record with eight saves and a 3.00 ERA in 21 games as Houston failed to reach the playoffs. The Astros gave up a player to be named later in the deal which became former overall number one choice Phil Nevin after the season.
Henneman played the next year with the Rangers and went 0-7 in his final big league season. For his career, he compiled a 57-42 record, 193 saves and a 3.21 ERA.
