A Houston native, Henderson played eleven seasons with the Mets, Cubs, Mariners and Athletics. The outfielder signed with the Astros for his final season in 1988 when he hit .217 in 42 games.

Overall, he hit .280 with 68 homers and was the principle talent traded for Tom Seaver (1977) and Dave Kingman (1981).
