The Abilene native played for Texas Tech before he signed with the Colt .45s in 1963. Harrison debuted with the Astros in 1965 and played parts of three seasons under the Dome. He compiled a .248 average with 12 homers in 204 games.

After a trade to Atlanta, Harrison resurfaced with the expansion Kansas City Royals in 1969 where he spent two seasons, hitting .219 with five homers.
