Ira Thomas Greene was once a highly-touted prospect of the Atlanta Braves who debuted in the majors in 1989. He was part of the trade that sent Dale Murphy to Philadelphia in 1990 and stayed long enough to pitch in the World Series for the 1993 Phillies.

He signed with the Astros before the 1997 season, starting two games with an 0-1 record and a 7.00 ERA then was released at season's end.

For his career, Greene had a 38-25 record with a 4.14 ERA, mostly as a starter over eight seasons.
