Signed by the Colt .45s in 1962, Fazio (pron: FAZZ-ee-oh) was considered a "bonus baby" who saw time as a 20-year-old in Houston's inaugural season. He played quite a bit at second base the next year before being sent to the minors for the next two seasons as Nellie Fox and Joe Morgan overtook him in the organization's depth charts. While a Colt, Fazio batted .179 with two homers.

Fazio was dealt to Kansas City at the end of the 1965 season in a trade that included Jim Gentile. He batted .206 in 27 games with the Athletics.

Fazio passed away at the age of 75 in Danville, CA after a lengthy battle with dementia and Parkinson's disease on December 1, 2017.
