A Boston native and a product of the University of Tennessee, Matthew Edward Duffy was selected by the Astros in the 20th round of the 2011 amateur draft.

Rising quickly through the Astros' increasingly well-stocked farm system, the 1B/3B was named the Pacific Coast League's Most Valuable Player for 2015 while he played for Houston's AAA Fresno affiliate.

Matt made his major-league debut for the Astros on September 14, 2015, and got his first hit for Houston, an RBI double, on September 19 of that year.
