A native of Jefferson, TX, lefthander Cook was originally signed by the Yankees but was selected by the Astros in a minor league draft. He posted a 4-8 record with two saves and a 4.00 ERA in 46 games over the course of two seasons with Houston, his only two years in the big leagues.
