A fleet outfielder with little power, Cedeno was acquired from the New York Mets after the 1999 season in a deal that included Mike Hampton, Derek Bell and Octavio Dotel. The Venezuelan spent just one season with the Astros, batting .282 with six homers and 25 steals. As the season went on, he found himself losing out to other outfielders like Moises Alou, Lance Berkman, Richard Hidalgo and Daryle Ward for playing time.
The next winter, he was sent to Detroit in the deal that brought Brad Ausmus back to Houston. He finished up his big league career playing for the Mets and the Cardinals.
