A first-round draft pick by the Astros in 1974, Cannon had brief stints with Houston in 1977 and 1978, batting a combined .171 in 17 games. He was dealt to Toronto after the 1978 season in the deal that brought Alan Ashby to Houston. Cannon had two more seasons with the Blue Jays where he hit .177.
