The 5-9 utility player credits his mother for his baseball skills. His mom was a star in women's amateur softball. Little Casey started with the Expos and was traded to Houston for catcher Mark Bailey in 1988. Over the next five seasons, he batted .249 with a surprising nine home runs.

After a couple of years in the minors, Candaele came back to the bigs for two seasons with the Indians before retiring.
