Jake Buchanan was selected by the Astros in the eighth round of the 2010 amateur draft out of North Carolina State. After impressive minor league seasons, he rose to the majors in June of 2014. In two partial seasons with the Astros, he compiled a 1-3 record with a 4.06 ERA in 22 games. The righthander was released and pitched briefly with the Cubs and Reds, totaling 29 career big league appearances. He has kicked around with Arizona, Oakland and Washington since then although unable to return to the majors.
