Born: Dec 13, 1956
Son of Yankee legend and Hall-of-Famer Yogi Berra, Dale was a highly regarded high school prospect when he was drafted in the first round by the Pirates in 1975. He was Pittsburgh's everyday shortstop from 1982 to 1984.
After being traded to the Yankees prior to the 1985 season, he was fined heavily for drug use in 1986. He finished his career in Houston in 1987, playing in 19 games.
Noting the differences between himself and his father, he once said (in Yogi-like fashion) in the book Growing Up Baseball, "You can't compare me to my father. Our similarities are different."
