Bergman kicked around with the Tigers and Padres before joining the Astros in 1998 in a trade for outfielder James Mouton. The tall righthander had his winningest season that year with a 12-9 record and a 3.72 ERA as Houston won the Central Division title. He posted a 4-6 record in 1999 before he was released and picked up by Atlanta. He spent a final year in the bigs pitching for Minnesota in 2000.
