Batista had two brief trials with the Astros in the mid-1970s. While the Dominican was signed by the Braves, his only appearances in the majors were with Houston in 1973 and 1975 where he hit .280 in 22 games.

He went on to play ball in the Japanese and Mexican leagues before retiring. He passed away on October 25, 2008 in Santo Domingo due to thrombosis.
