The Minnesota native appeared briefly with the Phillies in 1958 and the Orioles in 1960 before joining the Cardinals in 1962 where he was then traded to the expansion Colt .45s along with Carl Warwick for pitcher Bobby Shantz.

With Houston, he appeared in 10 games with no decision, posting a 5.09 ERA in his final big league season.

Anderson passed away in Houston on December 20, 1998.
