NORTH HAMPTON - Steven Shea, 72, of North Hampton, died peacefully in his home on Wednesday, March 4, 2015.
Steve was dearly loved by his wife, Connie, daughters Colleen Lawton and Carrie Siefer, sons-in-law Bill Lawton and Eric Siefer, grandchildren Cole and Carly Siefer and Steven and Brooke Lawton.
Steve grew up in Bedford, Mass., where he met his wife of 50 years. He attended UMass and played professional baseball as a pitcher for the Houston Astros and Montreal Expos.
Following his baseball career, he earned an MBA at Boston College and worked in executive banking for more than 20 years before retiring as president and chief executive officer of Rockingham Bank Corp in 1997.
In 1998, Steve joined the Central Asian-American Enterprise Fund and began his mission to help to transform the lives of individuals and their countries. He was a creator of the Central Asia-American Education Foundation and served as president and board member until his death. Through his efforts, hundreds of students from Central Asia received a business or economics education and many more will in the future.
He will be long remembered for his great faith, integrity and loving heart.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, at Bethany Church, Greenland.
