Two early homers off lefty Jonathon Niese staked the Astros to a 5-0 lead Tuesday night as they coasted to a 6-3 triumph over the Mets. J.A. Happ allowed three runs on six hits over 6-1/3rd innings while striking out seven. He also singled and scored the final run when J.D. Martinez walked in the seventh with the bases full.

J.C. Lowrie got the scoring started early when he belted a homer into the Crawfords in the first inning after J.C. Altuve reached on an infield chopper. C.R. Snyder repeated the feat in the second when he belted a three-run shot, his first as an Astro, after B.T. Bogusevic and J.A. Maxwell had led off with singles.

That was enough cushion for Happ who gave up two runs in the fourth and another in the fifth before working out of trouble. W. Lopez and D.L. Wright kept the Mets scoreless until B.A. Myers pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his sixth save.

The 10-14 Astros will look for a rare series sweep Wednesday afternoon at Minute Maid Mausoleum. W.F. Rodriguez (2-2) will pitch the 1:05 Central matinee against Chris Schwinden (0-0). The local boys now sport a winning (6-5) home record this year.
