Astros Lose Another Close One

A recurring theme this season is that, when the Astros lose, they're able to keep the game close. More evidence was supplied Monday night in Milwaukee as Houston came up a run short again in a 6-5 loss to the Brew Crew. This puts the Astros 2-5 now in one-run games.

Jed Lowrie got it started on a positive note with his first homer as an Astro but Lucas Harrell was struck for three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Houston scored again in the fifth when Brian Bogusevic drew a bases-loaded walk but Ryan Braun answered the same inning with a solo homer.

That closed the book on Harrell who gave up five runs in five innings while walking three. In the sixth, Brandon Lyon gave up a pair of hits then let what became the decisive run score on a wild pitch.

Down 6-2 in the seventh, Lowrie and Carlos Lee singled off Jose Veras before Bogusevic spanked a triple that plated them both then scored on a single by Chris Johnson. But the rally ended without a game-tying hit and the duo of Francisco Rodriguez and John Axford made sure they got no closer.

Houston outhit Milwaukee, 13-8, with three hits from Lee and two hits apiece by three other Astros.

Bud Norris (1-0) takes center stage on Tuesday when he faces ex-Astro Randy Wolf (0-2) who has a habit of baffling Houston hitters. The first pitch will be at 7:10 Central time.
