Stephen Strasburg is still more hope than reality but, with every start, Washington fans see his future more clearly. On Monday, Strasburg allowed two runs over six innings and stayed long enough to take a 6-3 win over Houston.
A two-run single by Chris Johnson in the sixth produced the only runs Strasburg allowed and it gave the Astros a short-lived 2-2 tie. Kyle Weiland, who had kept the Nationals under modest control for five innings was lit for four runs in the sixth that made the difference.
Stephen Lombardozzi was 4-for-5, including a two-run double in the decisive frame. Houston managed one final run in the eighth when a three-base error by Rick Ankiel allowed Travis Buck to score.
The Astros have now lost five of their last six and will send Wandy Rodriguez (0-1) to the hill Tuesday against Gio Gonzalez (0-0) with the first pitch at 6:05 Central time.
