Bogusevic: Can't reach homer

Jason Castro belted a solo homer off Detroit starter Doug Fister in the third but that was the only Houston scoring until the ninth in a 4-2 loss Sunday that closed out Grapefruit League play for the Astros. They concluded Florida play with a better-than-expected 14-16 record.

Wandy Rodriguez' final outing before his Opening Day start next Friday was so-so. He went five innings, allowing eight hits and four walks to go with five strikeouts. Somehow, that only turned into three runs, two of them on a homer by Jhonny Peralta. Rhiner Cruz also gave up an RBI double to Peralta for the last Detroit run.

Ex-Astro Jose Valverde made an appearance in the ninth. He was victimized by a double from Brian Bixler and an RBI single by Landon Powell. But he squelched further damage to earn his first spring save.

The Astros next appear in Corpus Christi for an exhibition match with the AA Hooks on Monday night. The scenery should look familiar to more than a few players since several of them performed there quite recently. The first pitch will be at 6:05 Central.
