Shuck: Misplays an ITPHR.

Wandy Rodriguez gave up five runs in the first two innings, including two home runs, but settled down Tuesday to post a football-like 14-7 win against the Detroit Tigers at Kissimmee. The triumph snapped a three-game losing streak and evened their spring record at 12-12.

Down 5-0, Houston exploded for nine runs in the next three innings, including two four-run rallies against lefty Andy Oliver and righthander Luis Marte. Jason Castro, Jose Altuve and Brian Bogusevic each had two of the Astros' 13 hits. Bogusevic homered for the first time this spring in the fourth while Brian Bixler drilled a pinch-hit two-run homer in the five-run eighth.

Wandy, meanwhile, settled down and finished six innings of work. The good news is that he only walked one batter all afternoon. Rodriguez gave up six hits and struck out four. One of those hits was a misplay by J.B. Shuck in center field that was scored an inside-the-park homer for Austin Jackson.

The Astros were an amazing 7-for-15 with runners in scoring position on their way to posting a spring high in runs scored.

Off the field, Houston released two veteran non-roster invitees whom had both come to camp with a solid chance to make the club. Lefthander Zach Duke exited after a 10-run outing against the Braves on Sunday while outfielder Jack Cust was released after going 1-for-25 at the plate. The goal was to give both a fresh start elsewhere if one can be found.

The Astros will give Lucas Harrell the starting nod on Wednesday as he faces the Miami Marlins in Kissimmee. The first pitch will be at 12:05 Central.
