Astros Bombed; Guns Stay

A. Rodriguez: Rough afternoon
(c) Houston Astros
The Astros lost at Kissimmee on Friday to the Toronto Blue Jays, 11-2, to complete a 4-3 first week of spring training action. J.A. Happ struggled with control and gave up three runs on five hits and three walks in 2-2/3rd innings.

Brett Myers also struggled before Aneury Rodriguez was tagged for five runs. Homers by Travis d'Arnaud and Adelny Hechevarria punctuated the sixth inning.

Houston had six hits with Jason Castro and Jose Altuve driving in the runs. Castro had a double and also threw out the speedy Anthony Gose from behind home plate.

The Astros and Blue Jays trade places when the scene shifts to Dunedin on Saturday for a 12:05 Central contest. Veteran Zach Duke will start for Houston but Jordan Lyles is also slated to pitch.

In other news, the Astros announced the April Flashback Fridays featuring the Houston Colt .45 throwbacks uniforms will include the authentic pistols on the jerseys after Major League Baseball overruled their previous edict to remove the gun artwork over concerns of appropriateness. We at Astros Daily celebrate the change in policy and think historical accuracy should prevail except in extreme cases.
